Michelle Bachelet
President for the República de Chile
Michelle Bachelet is the daughter of a brigadier who was active member of the socialist government under Salvador Allende rule. Her father was imprisoned during Pinochet dictatorship and murdered under torture condition. Michele and her mother were also imprisoned by a "grupo de operaciones" for the DINA –secret police under Pinochet rule- and were "disappeared" (unknown civic and legal status for a person). Finally they were released and they exile themselves to a foreign country. Eventually they returned to Chile. Michelle, holding a physician degree in pediatrics, became in Health State Minister and later, in Defense State Minister, this last duty as the first woman to achieve this status in Chile and in the whole Spanish America.
Being the president with the higher grade of popularity in Chile's history, she tells us, who is this woman behind the mainly official responsibility and also, about her dairy stand for a country full of complexity and taboos.
